Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick. Place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet and prick the surface with a fork.
  3. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow cooling completely.
  4. For the custard, heat milk and sugar until dissolved. In another bowl, whisk cornstarch and egg yolks. Gradually add warm milk to egg mixture, then return to saucepan and cook over low heat until thickened.
  5. Spread custard evenly over cooled pastry. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold into custard; spread on top.
  6. Chill for at least two hours before cutting into squares.
