  • 1 kg chuck or braising steak (cut into 3 cm cubes)
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 garlic cloves (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 cm fresh ginger (peeled and chopped)
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a frying pan, heat oil or ghee and sear beef cubes until browned on all sides. Transfer to a slow cooker.
  2. Sauté onions, garlic, and ginger in the same pan until fragrant.
  3. Add spices (turmeric, coriander, cumin, garam masala, red chili powder) and cook briefly.
  4. Deglaze the pan with beef broth and water; simmer for about two minutes.
  5. Combine everything into the slow cooker with cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and salt.
  6. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until beef is tender.
  7. Serve hot with naan or basmati rice.
