Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pizza dough
  • 300 g mozzarella cheese
  • 40 g butter
  • 1/2 bunch fresh parsley
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (about 400°F).
  2. Cut the mozzarella into coarse pieces.
  3. Cut each pizza dough into four vertical strips, then into four horizontal squares.
  4. Place mozzarella pieces in each square, close the dough, and roll into balls (you’ll need 23 total).
  5. Arrange the balls on a baking sheet in a tree shape: start with 6 at the base, reducing by one ball per row until one ball at the top, adding two extra at the bottom for the trunk.
  6. Prepare an egg wash by mixing egg yolk with a splash of water.
  7. Brush the dough balls with egg wash and bake for about 15 minutes until golden.
  8. While baking, melt butter in a pan, add minced garlic and parsley; mix well.
  9. Once baked, brush the sapin with garlic butter before serving.
